Billy Joe Snider, 78, of Homewood Addition, Mannington, WV, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2015 at United Hospital Center. He was born on May 21, 1936 in Rymer, WV, a son of the late Wesley and Vera Glover Snider.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Katherine Gump Snider of Mannington, WV; 6 daughters, Cathy Schrader of Farmington, Debbie Stevenski and husband Bob of Fairmont, Vicky Barron and husband Ed of Idamay, Anita Shackelford and husband Greg of Barrackville, Brenda Griffith and husband Wayne of Charleston and Heather Straight and husband Michael of Fairview; 9 grandchildren, Joshua Schrader and Amber Nichols, Joey and Maddie Stevenski, Jessica Wilson, Jamie Breakey, Amanda Moore, Jeremy Shackelford, and Jailynn Straight; 7 great-grandchildren, Brandon Nichols, Olivia Nichols, Eliza Wilson, Alexa Wilson, Braxton Wilson, Patrick Moore, and Madalynn Shackelford; one special niece, Pam Brown and 2 special nephews, Bobby Snider and Dennis Snider.

In addition to his parents, Billy Joe was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jeff Schrader, one grandson, Wesley Shackelford, and 3 brothers, Frank, Bob and Gene Snider.

Billy Joe worked and retired from CNG Transmission after 36 years. He enjoyed listening to southern gospel music and woodworking. He loved his family more than anything. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and was Christian man. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason of AF&AM #31 of Mannington.

Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington, WV on Monday, April 6, 2015 from 2-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 11am with Pastor Jerry Bush officiating. Per Billy Joe’s request, cremation was chosen as his final disposition. My prayers and condolences for such a loving family. Many years ago Billie Joe was on Marion County Rescue Squad which I was a part of the crew. Great memories of a wonderful man and very in love with his wife and girls! I am happy to know he had many grandchildren as he was all about his family. Know that I regret the loss being suffered, We will rejoice in Heaven someday!
