to

Our loving mother, Edna Pauline Porter, RN, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Monongalia General Hospital, at the age of 94.

Pauline was born April 28, 1923 at Campbells Run, Metz, WV as the oldest daughter of the late Jimmie and Ada Haught Smith.

Pauline attended school in the one-room schoolhouse at Campbells Run. She then graduated with the Class of 1943 at Mannington High School. After graduation, she went to the Nurse Cadet Core Training at Fairmont General Hospital. She graduated as a registered nurse with the Class of 1946. She was one of the cadets called in to work at the hospital when the 1945 Shinnston Tornado occurred. She was Dr. D. D. Hamilton’s nurse for several years.

Pauline and her late husband, Ray Porter, had Ray’s TV Sales and Service in Mannington for years.

Pauline was baptized at the Mannington Church of Christ and attended the Pricetown Church of Christ while she was able.

Left to cherish her are her daughters, Dollie ( the late Gary “Pedro”) Tustin, Doretta “Dee” (Dave) Bonnell, Darla Porter Wilson and friend Rudy Banick, Jr. , all of Mannington.

After raising five daughters, Pauline was blessed with six grandsons, Gary Ray, Jamie and Michael (Crystal) Tustin, Andy, Matt and Luke Bonnell. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Pauline “Siddie” was the loving sister to Giulia Ice, Geneva Jones, and John (Margaret) Smith, all of Mannington. Sister-in-law to Jack (Eva) Porter, of Moundsville and Barbara Michael, of Mannington.

Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, William Ray Porter and her two oldest daughters, Draunda Sue and Deborah Rae Porter. She had cared for her disabled daughter,  Sue at home for 62 years. She was also preceded in death by two infant grandchildren.

The family would like to give special thanks to her two home nurses, Judy Morgan, RN and Glenna Shock, RN.
