Elvira Wanda Guy Contraski, 88 of Rachel, WV passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Fairmont Regional Medical Center. She was born March 20, 1927 in Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late James and Wanda Huhn Guy.
She is survived by a son, Alex Contraski, Jr. of Alexander, WV and a daughter, Donna Moore and husband Thomas of Barrackville; 9 grandchildren, Alex Contraski III of NC, Scott Contraski of Grafton, Patrick Contraski of Fairmont, Ryan Contraski of Jane Lew, Gary Contraski, Jr. of Fairmont, Gina Six of Fairmont, Tina Boyce and husband Charles of Fairmont, Heather Markley and husband Doug of Fairmont and Ben Moore and wife Jamie of Shinnston; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; 3 sisters, Alice Garden of Uniontown, PA, Audrey Dunseath and husband Dave of Clarksville, PA and Cathy Mutusky of Clarksville, PA; one brother, Arthur Guy and wife Donna of Clarksville, PA.
In addition to her parents, Elvira was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Contraski, Sr.; one son, Gary Contraski; 3 sisters, Bertha Clingerman, Mary Ann Burless and Wanda Jean Bane; 2 brothers, James Guy and Curtis Huhn; 6 sisters-in-law, Stella Sokolosky, Alice Torrance, Jenny Urish, Elsie Kuzmanchuk, Millie Pollack and Helen Doshen.
Elvira was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Mannington where she was a member of the Alter and Rosary Society. She was a Marion County Senior Citizen’s “Prom Queen”. She enjoyed cooking and baking. She loved cooking and having the entire family in Holiday dinners. She loved her grandchildren very much!
Family and friends will be received at Masters Funeral Home at 209 Main Street, Mannington for Visitation on Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 2-8pm. A Vigil service will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday evening. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 10:00am at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Vincy Illickal officiating.
