Harold Earl “Jiggs” Wilson, 95, of Metz, WV, passed Friday, August 1, 2014 at St. Barbara’s Memorial Nursing Home in Monongah, WV. He was born April 22, 1919 at Marion County, WV, son of the late Roscoe Wilson and Georgia Mae Rice Wilson.
He is survived by wife, Anna Priscilla Valeyko Wilson, whom he married October 10, 1940; two daughters, Priscilla Snodgrass Aldridge and husband James of Mannington and Georgia A. Jones and husband Edward “Skitz” of Clarksburg; 4 grandchildren, Kimberly Wiley and husband Tim of Rachel, Edward C. Jones III of Wheelersburg, OH, James Kevin Snodgrass and wife Sheryl of Farmington and Vicky Earl and husband Jerry of Colfax; 9 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Hubert Wilson and Herbert Wilson; 3 sisters, Doris Raber, Wilma Raber and Lydia (Efaw) Haddix; one great-grandson, Brandon Wiley.
Harold was a United States Army World War II Veteran and was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp. He worked for 35 years as a coal miner at JoAnn Coal Company, Rachel Mine. He was a Christian. He was also carpenter and enjoyed hunting.
HaroFamily and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, WV on Sunday, August 3, 2014 from 2 - 4:00 p.m. and 6 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery. Full Military Services will be provided by the Marion County Veterans Council and the United States Army at the graveside.
