Howard William Pyles, 72 of Dunkard Mill Run Community, Farmington, WV passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at his residence.  He was born July 4, 1938 at Dunkard Mill Run Community, Farmington, WV a son of Denver Andy Pyles and Elizabeth Salai Pyles.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Edna Lucille (Fluharty) Pyles; 5 daughters, Sherry DeVault of Fairview, Glenda Hayhurst and husband Greg of Fairview, Tammy Lance and husband Jim of Shinnston, Karen Pyles of Fairview and Julie Pellegrino and husband Brian of Fredricksburg, VA; one son, Duane Pyles and wife Katie of Kansas City, MO; 14 grandchildren, Sherry Lynn Hayes of Fairview, Brandy DeVault of Burbank, CA, Amanda Gerrard and husband Richard of Fairmont, Michael DeVault Sr. and Derek DeVault, both of Fairview, Amber Hayhurst of Romney, WV, Greg Hayhurst Jr. of Fairview, China, Autumn and James Lance III, all of Shinnston, Timothy, Ashley, Samuel and Krystal Pellegrino, all of Fredricksburg, Va.; one great-grandson and tractor buddy, Dustin Hayes; several other family members also survive.

In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by one grandson, Eric Howard Pyles, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lloyd and Hazel Fluharty.

Howard was a 1956 Graduate of Farmington High School.  He retired from Owens Illinois and the Marion County Board of Education as a bus driver and in the maintenance department.  He delivered newspapers for the Fairmont Times and the Morgantown Dominion Post and currently was employed with Pearson Security as a guard.  He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force.

The Pallbearers will be Michael DeVault, Jr., Greg Hayhurst Jr., Derek DeVault, James Lance III, Timothy Pellegrino, Greg Hayhurst, Robert Fluharty Jr. and Rodney Hayhurst with Samuel Pellegrino and Dustin Hayes serving as Honorary Pallbearers.

Family and Friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, WV on Thursday, March 3, 2011 from 1 - 9:00 p.m. and also on Friday, March 4, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Drew Long and Reverend Richard Fluharty officiating. Howard was a good man and a funny man he made alot of people laugh i have know howard for a very long time since he was with marion county schools and then with the fairmont times he will be missed by who all knew him may god bless you and the family at this time of need

I am Ron and Shirley Johnstons grandaughter and I wanted you know that although I did not know Howard personally I did know how much my gradparents liked him and My thoughts and prayers are with your enitre family I lost my mother in Aug. 2010 and I know how hard it is to deal with but the Lord will carry you through this time of grief.
