Jay Walter Higgins, Jr., 44, of Mannington, died Saturday, April 22, 2017 at his residence. He was born October 18, 1972 at Fairmont, a son of Susan Kay Stevens Slaughter and stepfather Charles Fredrick Slaughter of Mannington and the late Jay Walter Higgins, Sr.
He is survived by his children: Dakota Higgins, of PA. Dylan Higgins, of Mannington, Raven Higgins, of Wyatt, Melinda Dodd, of Shinnston. His sister, Teresa Higgins, of Everson, brother, Matthew Slaughter, of PA. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jay worked in construction as a laborer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time in the outdoors. He also enjoyed traveling to the Amish country in Maryland.
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Mannington on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from 6-8 pm and on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 from 9-11 am with funeral services being held at 11:00 with Pastor Dan Adkins officiating.
