Julia Ann McDougal of Rachel, WV passed away on Friday, December 12, 2014 at her residence, after a courageous battle with cancer, under Hospice Care of Fairmont. She was born on July 20, 1938 and was a graduate of Farmington High School in the class of 1956. Julia and Jim McDougal were married on August 18, 1957. She worked at the Fairmont Arbors and St. Barbara’s Nursing Homes prior to retirement. Julia and Jim faithfully attended Downs UMC of Rachel and attended Bible Study at the West Farmington UMC. She was an active volunteer at The Food and Clothes Pantry in Mannington, a participant in the Fairmont Caring & Sharing Group, member of the former singing group called the Belles and Gents, the Red Hat Society and she was an avid reader. She enjoyed monthly dinners with her nieces and great nieces and high school classmates. Julia was well known for her delicious pies, which she faithfully brought to many gatherings. She kept in regular contact with cousins, nieces and nephews near and far.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, James (Jim) McDougal; her daughters in North Carolina, Kimberly Michael and her husband, James and Cindy McElwee and her companion, Donald Church; her grandson, Jamie Hillberry and his wife, Melissa and great grandsons, Tyler Postle and Seth Hillberry.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents, Estus B. and Lucinda Ware Vaughan, three sisters, Doris Bochard, Mae Matthews, and Leola Morrison; and brothers Harry, Howard, and Harold Vaughan.

Family and friends may call from 2-4:00 pm and 5-8:00 pm on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Pastor Floyd Spatafore officiating. Burial will be held at immediately after the service at Viewpoint Cemetery. On-line condolences may be left at www.mastersfuneralhomewv.com.

Jim & daughters,

I am so sorry to hear about Julia's passing. I'm sorry I
didn't make it to the funeral home, but my health is not
good right now.

I considered Julia as a dear friend although we haven't seen
each other in years. she would call me every few months.
But we sure used to have fun together when we worked at
Arbors.

You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
