Melvin Alvin Sillman, Jr., 81, of Fairview, passed away on Sunday June 8, 2014 at Fairmont General Hospital.  He was born May 29, 1933 at Fairmont, WV the son of  the late Melvin Alvin Sillman, Sr. and Pearl Hensley Sillman.

He is survived by 2 daughters and a son, Michelle Marie Sillman of Fairmont, David Alvin Sillman of Carolina, Virginia "Jenny" Johnston and husband Charles, of Warrenton, VA;; 6 grandchildren, Michael Sillman and wife Cristy of Fairview and their 3 kids, Cody, R.J and Gracie., Tiffany Drake and husband Bryan of Farmington, Justin Stull of Worthington, Tyler Sillman of Fairview, and Olivia and Madison Sillman of Mannington; a sister, Mary Ellen and a sister-in-law, Judy Sillman both of Ohio; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents,Melvin was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Sillman on Oct 29, 1997; a son, Danny Sillman on Feb 6, 2014; and a brother, William Sillman.

He was a U.S Army Veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict. He retired from Bethlehem Steel Co, Bethlehem Mine at Barrackville. He was Protestant by Faith. He was Deputy Chief of Marion County Police Reserves, and one of the Founders of the Marion County Junior Police, an organization for children. His passion was fishing, hunting, spending time in the outdoors, and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time at the Worthington Fire Station as an "unofficial" member.

Melvin chose cremation as his final disposition. There will be no viewing, however family will receive friends for Visitation at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, WV on Wednesday from 6;00 to 9;00 pm. A Memorial Service will be held in the Funeral Home, Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 1:00 pm, with Rev. Wesley Dobbs officiating.

Melvin's cremains will be interred at a private ceremony at Grandview Memorial Gardens at the convenience of the family.
