Ruth J. Quickle, age 88, of Fairmont, WV, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at her residence. She was born July 5, 1927 in McBee, South Carolina, a daughter of the late James Fletcher Johnson and Vermelle Steen Johnson.

She is survived by her 4 children, Hollis Jean Kersten and husband Willie of Ashdown, Ark., Larry Dean Quickle and wife Patricia of Charleston, WV, Wayne J. Quickle of Fairmont, WV, and Connie Lee Quickle Murray and Jeff Wagner of Clarksburg, WV; 11 grandchildren, David Lee and Amanda Gooden, Teresa Lynn and John Coburn, Larry Jr. Quickle, Nicky Paul Quickle, Autumn Lynn Martin, Patrick Brett and Amy Quickle, Ethan and Melinda Quickle, Audrey, Alisha Quickle Yanero, Cameron Jessica Anne and Adam Claybrook; 16 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Graden Orval Quickle; a son, Roger Lee Quickle; 3 sisters, Rosalee McDonald, Lillian Turnage and Florence Caddell; 2 brothers, Carson Johnson and Ward Johnson.

Ruth worked with Family Services of Marion Co. for several years. She was an active participant in the T.O.P.S. organization. She was a member of the First Church of Nazarene in Fairmont and the Marion Co. PTA.

The family would like to thank Dolly and P.J. for their kind care of their mother. A very special thanks to her nurse Courtney for the 2 years of kind care. A special thanks to her brother, Wayne Quickle for his 8 years of living with her and caring for her. And special thanks to Willie Kersten and Pat for the music.

Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St, Mannington, WV on Monday, April 4, 2016 from 2-8pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 1pm with Pastor Tim Perkins officiating. Interment will follow at Viewpoint Cemetery in Rachel.
