Uncle Bill, I wish I could be there to honor and remember you in person. Eventhough I haven't seen you in person for about 9 years, I'll never forget your smile or your laugh or the way you would tell story after story to anyone who would listen. (I always loved hearing them.) Whenever I would come to WV to visit, you always made me feel special with the way you stop everyone we passed on the way up to the house and tell them you had "Florida" in the car with a big smile on your face. Everyone knew your name, even counties away you had a reputation of helping people, solving problems, and getting things done. I even met someone in a Georgia airport a couple of years back and somehow ended up talking about our WV roots and being from the Mannington area. This person asked me if I knew Bill Hammond of Four States and was so surprised that I was your niece that he and his wife bought my lunch. How cool is that?

Uncle Bill, you were such a proud man. You supported, loved and protected your family like a giant grizzly bear. I am happy to tell you that you passed those strong family traits on to your children and they are passing them on to their children. Did you even know what a great legacy you built? Now that you are gone, this world is already a lesser place without you.

I send my love and condolences to my amazing Aunt Pat, who was a saint for staying married to this rascal all these years. Also to all my cousins, thier children and their children's children and to anyone who had the honor of knowing my Great-Uncle, Bill Hammond of Four States, WV. God bless you all.

With much love, Tris
