
Berneda Rose Hunter, age 86 of Pleasant Valley, Fairmont, WV who passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at WVU Fairmont Regional Medical Center. She was born October 24, 1938 in Littleton, WV a daughter of the late Ernest Cain and Edna Marie Church Cain.
She is survived by her three children, Deborah Hunter of Middletown, Delaware, Donna Onderko of Fairmont, WV, and Daniel T. Hunter and wife Sybil of Barrackville, WV, special nephew Charles Freeland (Gina Prahl) of McDonald, PA and formerly of Mannington, five grandchildren, Samantha Hunter and significant other Cody Hetrick and great-grandchildren and Alexander Hunter and significant other Kate Baker of Friendly, WV and great-grandchildren, Captain Dylan Hunter (Abby) Onderko of Leesville, Louisiana and great-grandson, Garrett (Racheal) Onderko of Fairmont, WV and Carson Onderko of Fairmont, WV, special friend and caregiver Carol Conrad of Fairmont, two sisters-in-law, Katherine Cain of Cortland, OH and Shirley Cain of Champion, OH.
In addition to her parents, Berneda was preceded in death by her husband Guy Richard Hunter who died March 9, 2022, three sisters, Louise Cain, Alberta and Gail Kent and Doris and Ray Freeland, and three brothers, George Cain, Howard Cain, and James Cain.
Berneda was a homemaker who raised her children and also worked at Sears Roebuck and Company for over 20 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She attended Highland Ave. United Methodist Church where she served in her church faithfully! Berneda’s biggest pleasure was her famous iced pumpkin cookies and her pepperoni rolls!
The family would like to Thank Marion County Rescue Squad and Fairmont Regional Hospital 3rd Floor nurses for their care of Berneda.
There will be no funeral home services as cremation was chosen as the final method of disposition. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Berneda’s memory to Thomas Chapel Methodist Church, In Care of Shelly Brown, 114 Styles Run Rd., Metz, WV 26585. Masters Funeral Home in Mannington has been placed in care of the final arrangements.
