Frederick “Fred” Denzil Hammond, age 55 of Fairmont, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023 at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. He was born November 27, 1967 at Fairmont, a son of the late William Benton Hammond and Pricilla Carolyn Jones Hammond.

He is survived by his children, Jonathon (Clarissa) Hogan of Morgantown, Jordonna (Greg) Jarvis of Fairmont, Cicilia Vincent of Fairmont and Aimee (James) Moore of Grafton, five grandchildren, Kent, Olive, Scarlet, Azlea and Dahlia, four sisters, Sara Sue Hammond of Shinnston, Barbara Ellen (Paul) Heater of Four States, Tammy Boone of Four States and Kelly Renee Hammond Cain of Clarksburg, three brothers, William Denton Hammond of Four States, Danny (Dawn) Hammond of Mohans Run and Todd J. Hammond and companion Alicia of Shinnston, and several nieces and nephews and his former mother-in-law Linda Hogan of Fairmont.

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Dan Boone and a sister-in-law Pam Hammond.

Fred enjoyed hunting, riding motorcycles and 4-wheelers. He enjoyed the farm life and being outdoors and tinkering on vehicles. He loved his children and grandchildren. He was employed at Aurora Flight Services at the Benedum Airport.

Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington, WV on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 from 2-8 pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 10:30 am with Rev. Bill Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at the Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery.

I'm truly saddened to hear that Fred has passed. He was always happy and put a smile on the face of everyone he interacted with. A real craftsman with incredible talent and attention to detail. Fred, you will be missed. My deepest condolences to family and friends.

Knowing Fred as a friend and co-worker at Aurora Flight Sciences was truly a blessing in my life. Always a smile, a willingness to help and a kind word. He was a genuine soul and will be missed. Prayers for strength, comfort and peace for the family.

My deepest sympathies to family and friends. As families tend to do, we drifted apart as we grew up but will always remember visiting uncle Bill, Aunt Pat and all of the kids. I’ll always remember Fred with a smile on his face. I’ll see you again some day, cousin. ❤️
