Harry Curtis “Junie” Moore passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023 in Morgantown, WV. He was born in Rachel, WV on June 11, 1938, to parents Harry Ashford and Lena Louise (Covey) Moore, the third of six children.
Harry is survived by his son Harry “Skip” (Cheryl) Moore of Cary, Illinois, a granddaughter Athena (Nick) Deck of Winona Lake, Indiana, a grandson Aaron (Amanda) Moore of Bonaire, Georgia, great-granddaughters Zelda and Helena Moore, brother Homer (Shirley) of Dailey, West Virginia, sister Jane (Sherwin) Toothman of New Martinsville, West Virginia, sister Barbara (Richard) Toothman of Mannington, West Virginia, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his wife Helen Grace and brothers Clifford and Thomas.
Harry served in the United States Navy for several years, then capitalized on his hands-on skills as a mechanic, carpenter, and general contractor, but primarily as a coal miner. His fierce and undeniable strength of character carried him through life.
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington, WV on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 11:00am to 1:00pm with a funeral service beginning in the funeral home at 1:00pm with Pastor Jerry Dooley officiating. Interment will follow at the Viewpoint Cemetery in Rachel.
