Harry J. Matthews II, age 86 of Fairmont, WV passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Grafton City Hospital in Grafton, WV following a long illness. He was born June 7, 1937 in Marion County, a son of the late Marshall S. Matthews and Ruth May Walls Matthews.
Harry is survived by his wife of 41 years, Pamela Jean Abruzzino Matthews, his son Harry J. Matthews III of Fairmont, his sister-in-law Marcia Matthews of Colorado and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his brother Marshall Matthews.
Harry was a Veteran of the United States Army having served in Germany. He was a contractor by trade having helped build many houses in the area. In 2008, he became a Registered Real Estate Appraiser and was also a delivery driver for White Hall Pharmacy. Harry was one of the original founders of The Car Crafters Club and loved to sail having built his own sail boat! He was inducted into the Tamarack for his work with stained glass and he enjoyed reading and loved his two dogs and his family.
It was Harry’s request to donate his body to the Human Gift Registry. A visitation for family and friends will be held at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington, WV on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 12-2 pm.
