Lawrence Daniel “Danny” Starkey, age 81 of Reader, West Virginia passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the New Martinsville Health and Rehabilitation. He was born December 21, 1941 in Brink, West Virginia, a son of the late Jacob Lonnie Starkey and Mabel E. Toothman Starkey.
He is survived by his niece Pam Jackson and husband Ron of Reader, WV and his nephew Jim Glasscock II of Reader, WV. He is also survived by his great-nephew Daniel and Hannah Jackson of Reader, WV. Danny was the last surviving member of his immediate family as in addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Maxine Starkey and Lorraine (Jim) Glasscock.
Danny grew up on Plum Run and was a 1960 graduate of Farmington High School. He was a Veteran having served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Danny worked in New Jersey as a carpenter for Sherid Incorporation.
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St. in Mannington, WV on Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 10:30am to 1:00pm with funeral services beginning at 1:00pm with Pastor David Yanero officiating. Full Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Army and the Marion County Veterans Council in the funeral home parking lot immediately following services. Interment will follow at the Myers Cemetery in Plum Run.
