The children of Marceline Gladys Rukavina Huey are sad to announce the death of their beloved mother. Marceline was born on February 9, 1929 in Bethlehem, outside of Shinnston to Gladys Virginia Starkey Rukavina Statler and Marco Rukavina. After the passing of her father, she was blessed when her mother married Asa “Buster” Statler who raised her as if she was his own precious child.

While in high school, she became the Drum Majorette for Mannington High. Marceline always loved music and loved to dance. She was the epitome of 1940’s Big Band Music when she won a Jitterbug Contest with Don Elliott. In 1946, she had a “meet cute” when she ran into Delbert J. “Bud” Huey at a dance. Their marriage produced eight children of which they were extremely proud especially due to the fact they were both only children.

Marceline was a very progressive thinking mother. She allowed her children to be whatever they wished and to enjoy their young lives to the fullest. Whether it was sports, piano lessons, and dance lessons – her support was 100%. Her response to a neighbor at one time was who suggested that her children should all be put to work was “I want them to enjoy their young lives. They will have plenty of time to work.” But she had the love and support of her children anyway because her children knew that their Mother always had their back. The memories her children have of her are cherished gold.

Marceline’s favorite hobby was shopping in which she was the master. All of her children were taken on these excursions and have many memories of looking for the best sale. Her cooking was amazing! Never a school lunch for her children. Sunday dinners were never missed by her grown children.

But above all, was her love for her family. As grandchildren came, then great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren it was amazing her capacity for love. She liked nothing than better than to have a visit, see the latest pictures or hear of their latest escapades. Her happiness was so evident with her smiles and laughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her three beloved children, Linda Cheryl Huey East, David Laurence Huey and Michael Paul Huey and her grandson, Zachary Laurence Luceti.

Left to mourn her passing are her son, Mark Alan Huey of Fairmont; her daughters, Ruthie (Randy) Lemley of Worthington, Kathleen (Stanley) Efaw of Mannington, Patricia (Ashley) Gibbon of Denton, MD and Lisa (Ken) Iams of Mannington. Her grandchildren, Alan (Karen) Luceti of Easton, MD, David Huey II and Melanie Huey of Enterprise, AL, Asa (Andrea) Huey of Pueblo, CO and Josh Huey of Pueblo, CO, Matthew Lemley of Monongah, Michelle (Doug) Wise of Cheat Lake, Jennifer (Jay) Moore of Whetstone, Nicholas (Christy) Waskis of Grant Town, Patrick (Nikki) Tetrick of Martinsburg, Sara (Greg Hrapchak) Tetrick of Fairmont, Derek (Sara Buskirk) Huey of Morgantown, Josh Mason of Idamay, Jeremy Mason of Morgantown, Marceline Mason of Hamtramck, MI, Michael P. Huey and Gracie Huey of Fairmont. Her Great-Grandchildren, Gabriella and Delano Luceti, Christopher and Cody Huey, Leslie Backes, Samantha Lemley, Matthew Lemley, Katie Lemley, Hayden Wise, Cassie Wise, Tyler Hayes, Kyle Moore, Jackson, Justin and Waylon Waskis, Emma Wise, Christian Hrapchak, Sydney and Andrew Tetrick, Tyler Brumfield, Arya, Shea and Preston Huey. Great-Great Grandchildren Bella Huey, Grayson, Braxton and Mila Hayes. What a Family coming from just one woman! Also mourning her passing is her favorite three legged cat, Mizz Kitty. All of the Grand-dogs and Grand-cats adored Mother and would make a bee-line to her house and some refused to leave.

Viewing will be Wednesday, January 10 from 2pm to 8pm. Private family services will be held Thursday at 11am with burial to follow at Mannington Memorial Park laid to rest beside her beloved “Bud”. Father Binu Emmanuel will be officiating. Marceline was also a very charitable person who donated regularly on behalf of Veterans, Children and the Democratic National Party. Two days before she passed, she made out a check to Biden’s Campaign. Feel free to do the same in her memory. What fun was had thru the years as Marceline and Bud always voted and cancelled each other out.
