Albert Vernon Morris, age 87 of Mannington, WV passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at his residence. He was born April 22, 1934 at Wetzel County, WV a son of the late Amos Andrew Morris and Jeanette Edgell Morris.
He is survived by three children, David Morris of Shinnston, Diane Morris Watson of Pleasant Valley and her fiancé Doug Shaffer, and Darla Morris of Mannington; four grandchildren, Zane George of Mannington, Monica (Steven) Fulaytar of Mannington, Kaylee Watson or Morgantown, and Ella Watson of Fairmont; one great-granddaughter, Lydia Grace Wood; one sister, Luella Patterson of Texas; three sisters-in-law, Ann Cummins of Bridgeport, Marilyn Morris of Texas, and Karen Morris of Bridgeport; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Gloria Boyles Morris who died November 21, 2019; two brothers, James Morris and Patrick Morris; one brother-in-law, James Cummins; and his in-laws, Harold and Ferne Boyles.
Albert was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served in Okinawa. He was employed at Dominion Hope Gas retiring after 31 years. He was a member of the Mannington Church of Christ. Albert was a deeply religious man who gave great advice to everyone he met and was a very caring and giving man who enjoyed working and restoring trucks with his son David. He was always there to help anyone at any time! He greatly loved his family and it showed in everything he did!
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington, WV on Friday, September 10, 2021 from 2-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 11:00am in the funeral home with Dr. Evangelist Michael P. Reese officiating. Full Military Rites to be accorded by the United States Marine Corp and the Marion County Veterans Council in the funeral home parking lot immediately following funeral services. My sincere condolences to your family. Albert and Gloria were wonderful friends to our family for many years. He and my dad (Gerald Kiger) had great stories from the gas company. His passing has left a huge void in the community. Prayers for your families.
We were so very saddened to learn of the passing of Albert. He was a wonderful man in so many ways to his family, friends, Mannington Community, Country and Church. A talk with Albert was always enjoyable, and he was so interesting and knowledgeable. He will be missed by so very many. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
