Claude Orville Derby Jr., age 83 of Bridgeport, WV passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Monongalia General Hospital. He was born September 12, 1939 in Pine Grove, WV a son of the late Claude Orville Derby Sr. and Audrey Streets Derby.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Diane Haught Derby, three children, Dale (Stephanie) Derby of Morgantown, Michael (Jennifer) Derby of Fairmont, and Lisa Poling and fiancé David Travis of Bridgeport and his six grandchildren, Helayna Derby, Isabella Derby, Tyler Derby, Travis Derby, Colton Travis and Claude Travis. Claude is also survived by two brothers, David (Janice) Derby of Clay county and Norman (Vivian) Derby of Wetzel County, and four sisters, Mary Brill of Ohio, Peggy Dulaney of Bridgeport, Marlene Barr of Pine Grove and Linda Fike of Oakland, MD.
In addition to his parents, Claude was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Sue Derby, and three sisters, Patsy Adkins, Karen Corrigan and Janice Carver.
Claude was a graduate of Pine Grove High School and a United States Veteran having served in the Navy. He worked for Eureka Pipeline and Coca-Cola for 37 years. Claude was a member of the Plum Run Baptist Church and was a man of faith who provided for his family sacrificing a lot for them.
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington, WV on Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 2-4:00pm and 6-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023 in the funeral home beginning at 11:00am with Pastor Larry Kincell officiating. Interment will follow at the Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery.
