Claude Neff

Claude Nelson Neff, age 70 of Mannington, WV passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Tygart Center in Fairmont. He was born November 11, 1952 in Fairmont, WV a son of the late Donald Thorne, his biological father, and Raymond Clinton Neff and Ethel Louise Snodgrass Neff.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years Judith “Judy” Thomas Neff, with whom he married on November 9, 1985; his mother-in-law Dorothy “Dot” Thomas of Metz; two brothers, Delmas “Bub” and Vicky Thorne of Mannington and Donald Perry Thorne Jr. of Farmington; two sisters-in-law, Darlene Troy and Paula Dodd; one brother-in-law John Michael Thomas; a grandson Jacob Evans of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Claude was preceded in death by his daughter Nicolette Ray Neff; his father-in-law Meryl Thomas; a sister-in-law Barbara Sam Slaw; two brothers-in-law, Meryl Rick Thomas and Larry Lee Thomas; and his special dog “Mammie”.

Claude was a United States Army Veteran who graduated from Wellington High School Class of 1971 in Wellington, OH. He enjoyed watching TV, especially war movies, and playing games, and he loved listening to AC-DC! Claude had two German-Shepard dogs, Abraham and Danny, who he trained in German language with German commands. He was formerly employed with the WVDOH in Clarksburg for 25 years as a State Inspector.

Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington on Friday, February 3, 2023 from 4-8:00pm. There will be no funeral service at the funeral home as family and friends are welcome to meet at the funeral home and follow in precession to Viewpoint Cemetery in Rachel for a graveside beginning at 11:30am where Full Military Rites will be provided by the United States Army and the Marion County Veterans Council.
