Curtis Jackson Martin, Sr., age 82 of Fairmont, WV passed away, Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at his residence. He was born January 17, 1940 in Mannington, WV a son of the late Lester and Gladys Martin, and his adopted parents Theodore and Lillian Gaskill.

He is survived by four children, Lillie Virginia Martin and her significant other Okie Valentine of Fairmont, Curtis Jackson Martin Jr. of Fairmont, Tina (Larry) Mincer of Fairmont, and Melissa Ann (Perry) Shaeffer of Fairmont; two grandchildren, David Lee Martin and Brandi Wilson; three great-grandchildren, Tay’varee Mears, Ian Efaw and Hailey Efaw; four siblings, Kay McCaulley of Fairmont, Audie Colvin of Mannington, Alberta Richmond of Fairmont, and Norman Brooks Martin of Monongah; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Curtis was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Jean Martin who died July 16, 2007; a great-grandson, Cyheed Wilson; a brother, Samuel Gaskill, and sister, Virginia Caputo.

Curtis was formerly employed at Rayovac Battery Company having retired with over 20 years of service, Everett Carroll Sawmill in Morgantown with 18 years of service, and the Marion County Transit Authority as a mechanic and janitor. He enjoyed fishing and working on cars and attended the Baxter Church of God.

Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington, WV on Monday, April 11, 2022 from 6-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 beginning at 11:00am with Reverend Wesley Dobbs officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Curtis lived in our neighborhoodand we became over the fence friends. He was a kind, humble and considerable man, the epidome of kindness. My condolences to the family. May God be with you. Annette Taylor

I love my grandpa till death come upon me there has never been one moment where I had a bad day with him but he is not here to make feel better all I can do is hope he is watching over me/by Tayvaree mears
