Elva May Delaney, age 95 of Metz, WV passed away Monday, October 28, 2024 at Encompass Health and Rehab in Morgantown. She was born August 14, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA the daughter and only child of the late Alvin Crooks and Laura Mae Pitts Crooks.

She is survived by her son Daniel Dean Delaney and his wife Denise of Lexington, KY, her sister-in-law Rosalee Straight of Monongah, her brother-in-law Kenneth and Linda Delaney of Denver, CO, several nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends including one of her best friends, Beverly.

In addition to her parents, Elva was preceded in death by her husband Holland “Leo” Delaney who died March 27, 2014, four brothers-in-law, Delbert, Arthur, Charles and Jack Delaney.

Elva enjoyed playing piano which she practiced and trained passionately. She was a secretary and pianist for various churches over the years in Massachusetts, Ohio, and many others, most recently for Llewellyn Baptist Church. Elva loved the Lord with all of her heart and considered it a joy having Him in her life as she would often be heard saying “Count it all Joy”!

Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington, WV on Thursday, October 31, 2024 from 2-4:00pm and 6-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday, November 1, 2024 beginning at 11:00am with Pastor Larry Watson officiating. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Elva’s memory to the charity of your choice.
