Harry W. “Butch” Spurr, age 83 of Katy Community who passed away Thursday, July 4th, 2024 at his residence. He was born Sept. 2, 1940 in Four States, WV a son of the late Joe and Leota Brumage Spurr.

Butch is survived by his wife of 59 years Thelma Efaw Spurr, his 3 children, Michael Spurr of Katy, Steve Spurr and his wife Patricia Closson Spurr of Monongah, and his daughter Kris Spurr Dixon and her husband Brian Dixon also of Katy, and his 6 grandchildren, Justin Spurr and Trenton Spurr of Fairmont, Jessica Dixon Nichols and her husband Carl Nichols of Katy, Brandon Dixon and girlfriend Kaylee Miller of Katy, and Carson Spurr and Kynlee Spurr of Monongah.

In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his sister Alice Jo Spurr Bickerstaff and an infant grandson Tyler Spurr.

Butch worked at Blacksville Mine #2 where he retired after 30 years, where he had a longwall named after him. After retirement, Butch enjoyed camping at Twin Lakes Campground but most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and cheering them on at anything they did! He spent most every morning sitting on his porch drinking his coffee and doughnuts.

There will be no funeral service as direct cremation was Butch’s wishes as his final method of disposition. We would like to invite family and friends to join us in remembering the life of our beloved husband, father and grandfather at the Worthington Fire Dept. for an open house from 2-4:00pm on Sunday, July 14, 2024.
