Helen Loraine Batson Ashley, age 93 of Mannington, WV passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023 at Morgantown Health and Rehab surrounded by family. She was born September 29, 1929 in Seven Pines, WV a daughter of the late Henry Otis Batson and Delphia Mae Byard Batson.
She is survived by three children, Lonnie Ashley and his wife Joyce of Fairmont, David Ashley and his wife Judy of Carolina, and Janet Plachta and her husband Mark of Farmington. Helen is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband Carl William Ashley, to whom she was married for 65 years, who died January 29, 2014, her daughter Connie Robinson, a grandson Scottie Ashley and several brothers and sisters.
Helen was the last of her immediate family of 9 children and was a member of the Zion Assembly Church of God of Idamay. She enjoyed going to yard sales and auctions, working on clocks, cooking for her family and she always loved spending time with her grandchildren!
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington on Sunday, July 30, 2023 from 10:00am to 1:00pm with funeral services beginning at 1:00pm with Pastor JJ Davis officiating. Interment will follow at the Greene Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider memorial contributions be made to WVU Medicine Children's.
