
Justin Lee Cottrill, age 33 of Mannington, WV passed peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. He was born June 20, 1989 in Fairmont, WV. He is survived by his three children that were his heart and soul, Justin Nelson Cottrill, David Lee Cottrill and his little princess Bailee Brooke Cottrill; his mothers’ Sandy Higgins and Kimberly Cottrill; his sister Destiny Higgins and two brothers, Stacy Lee Thompson and T.J. Anderson; a very special aunt Sharon Stout, his maternal grandmother Jessie “Gangie” Higgins; his paternal grandmother Carolyn Cottrill; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his two brothers from another mother, Steve Guantt and Jonathan Efaw.
Justin was preceded in death by his father who was his best friend, Jerry “Spank” Cottrill; his paternal grandfathers, Jerry Cottrill and Harry “Pap” Higgins; his uncle David Lee Higgins; and his very special aunt Paula Cottrill who would let him get by with just about anything.
Justin was a tree trimmer by trade and was very good at his job which he loved so much! He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, ride his side-by-side and fish often. He never let his paralysis stop him from make everyone laugh and making the best of life. He would be on the back porch every day at 5:00am sharp hunting for the “big buck”, which he finally shot his perfect ten-point out of his bedroom window in November 2022 with the help of his buddy Austin “Hill Jack” McDougal.
The family would like to Thank Nelson and Heidi Williams for all they’ve done for Justin and caring for his children. He appreciated it more than you’ll ever know! Also a big Thanks to all of his friends as he loved you all! The family would also like to Thank anyone and everyone that came out to hang out with Justin and just know he loved and appreciated the time spent with you all, especially his neighbor Steve Newbrough who always lended a helping hand and Andrew Parker who was always willing to come out and help!
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington, WV on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 from 6-8:00pm. There will be no funeral services as cremation has been chosen as the final method of disposition.
