Our loss was heaven’s gain when on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, beloved wife, mother, and Nana, Mary Elizabeth Martin went to be with our Lord. Mary was born January 3, 1967, the only daughter of Charles and Janice Long “Starkey.”
Mary spent most of her youth growing up in the small coal camp of Four States where she met her beloved husband Roger G. Martin Jr. whom she married on August 9th, 1985. While a small town girl at heart both Mary and Roger enjoyed traveling and seeing the world together while proudly serving in the United States Army.
Although many accomplishments of Mary’s can be noted, her greatest was her family. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, and Nana until her very last breath. Nothing meant more to her than her children, Melissa and Benjamin Holden of Mannington and Cory and Felicia Martin of Four States, that is until she became a Nana. Mary lived to love and spoil her grandchildren, Joshua, Avery, Harper, and Creed and they loved to spend time swimming, riding four wheelers and hanging out at their Nana and Big Pap’s house.
When Mary entered the gates of Heaven she was greeted by her sweet grandson, Finn and her cherished four legged son, Madison, who arrived before her.
Per Mary’s wishes there will be no funeral but the family hopes to plan a memorial service in remembrance of her life at a later date. Condolences can be made to her husband and family at: P.O. Box 122 Four States, WV 26572. On-line condolences may be left at www.mastersfuneralhomewv.com as well as the funeral home facebook page. Masters Funeral Home in Mannington, WV has been placed in care of the final arrangements.
