Michelle Dawn Lucas, age 51, passed away in the late hours of Saturday, October 7, 2023, with her family by her side. Michelle was born on September 23, 1972, in Fairmont, WV to her mother Patricia Matheny and late father Luther Lucas.
Michelle spent most of her childhood in Wyatt, WV. She would later go on to attend and graduate from Lincoln High School. After high school, Michelle attended Fairmont State University. Her generous heart and wild spirit led her to making a career out of helping and serving people. She spent her entire working career dedicated to serving others. Michelle was influenced by her family to be a loving and caring woman and incorporated that into motherhood having two beautiful daughters, Alexis Paige Lucas and Brooklynn Grace Zaleski. As a mother, she was generous, loving and kind. She spoiled them as much as she possibly could. In 2011, Michelle would then meet her fiancé and life partner, Rick Fernandez.
Michelle is survived by her two daughters, Alexis and Brooklynn, her mother, Patricia Matheny, her three sisters, Tammy Lucas, Kim Daft, and Rene Matheny, her fiancé Rick Fernandez, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Michelle had a contagious laugh and a beautiful spirit. She was a loving mother, sister, partner, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all those who have either met her or had the chance to have a relationship with her. Michelle was a beautiful person who cared more for others than herself and memories of her will be cherished by all.
There will be no funeral home services at this time as cremation has been chosen as the final method of disposition. The family and close friends of Michelle will be having a celebration of life ceremony in Michelle's memory. The time and date of that event will be posted later. Masters Funeral Home in Mannington, WV as been placed in care of the final arrangements.

I have been friends with Michelle since we was 5 years old. She was a great person. I can't believe she's gone. My condolences to the family. I loved her and her children. She will be greatly missed. If her family needs anything don't hesitate to get ahold of me. I am praying for you all.

A beautiful light has extinguished, but my memories of her never will. She has given me some great stories and memories from our years growing up together. I always smile when I think of her. Rest in peace, my friend.
