Nellie Marie Fluharty, age 85, a resident of Mannington, WV passed away Friday, March 27, 2020. She was born January 8, 1935 in Morgantown, WV to the late Donna Mae Hackworth and Orville Paul Cunningham.
Nellie worked at the First Exchange Bank in Mannington until her retirement. She was married for 60 years as of July 25, 2019 to Darold J. Fluharty who passed away September 12, 2019.
Nellie was a devoted and longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Mannington. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and in her free time enjoyed quilting at the Mannington Round Barn. Additionally, she was the proud recipient of the West Virginia Golden Horse Shoe Award in 1949.
Nellie is survived by her daughter, Dr. Lee Ann Calvert and son-in-law Dr. James Calvert of Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia; and her grandchild, Lauren Calvert of Richmond, Virginia.
Nellie was a loving wife and wonderful mother and grandmother. She was loved by all who met her and will be greatly missed.
There will be no public visitation or funeral services. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery. Lee Ann, I am so sorry. I loved you dear mom, she taught me so much. I have many great memories of her. You, Jimmy and your family are in my prayers.
I remember Nellie from FEB, always dressed elegantly and hair done beautifully. I had the opportunity to reminisce with her as I drove her for a hair appointment when my sister Amie was not available. My condolences on the loss of this sweet lady.

So very sorry to learn of Nellie's passing. She was a such a wonderful person and I was lucky to serve with the First Exchange Bank with her helping to run things the right way. The same with the Dr. Phoebie Moore Trust Fund to help the Mannington High School Library and now Mannington Middle School. Always great to run into her out and about. A joy to talk to her. We will all miss Nellie.
