Robin John Swiger, age 75 of Fairmont and Grant Town, WV passed away Saturday, November 2, 2024 at WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born February 6, 1949 at March AFB, Riverside, California, a son of the late Vernon Jack Swiger and Margaret Alice Hazleton Woods Swiger Harton. Robin was raised by his late paternal grandparents John Burton and Lunda Pauline Cooper Swiger from about 1 year old.
He is survived by his wife Diane Fletcher Swiger of Fairmont, his daughter Sabrina Swiger Eppenbaugh Turcotte of Grant Town, his grandson Chase Eppenbaugh of Ottawa, KS, two granddaughters, Kaitlyn Eppenbaugh of Tampa, FL and Faith Turcotte of Grant Town. Robin is also survived by two half-sisters, Rhoda (Paul) Kapugi of Sun Prairie, WS and Karmel Ervin of Phoenix, AZ, two special nieces, Sherrie (Bill) McDaniel of Jonesborough, TN and Jennifer Parker of Fairmont, a brother-in-law Edward Fletcher of Friendly, WV, a sister-in-law Carol (Danny) Jones of Fairmont, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and paternal grandparents, Robin was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents George Clyde and Ethel Rhoda Pursiful Hazleton, half-brother George Robert Woods, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law George and Pauline Joliffe Fletcher.
Robin was a 1967 graduate of Fairview High School and was a United States Air Force Veteran. His love for cars not only was his hobby but also was his occupation as an auto-body repairman and painter at various auto-body shops. He loved attending car shows and building model cars. He also loved reading, driving back-country roads and rescuing cats. Robin would often help set up fairs and festivals on the weekends. He was a Methodist by Faith and a member of the Shinnston American Legion in Shinnston.
There will be no funeral home services as cremation was Robin’s preferred method of final disposition. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help the family offset expenses. Interment will be announced at a later date at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton. Masters Funeral Home in Mannington has been placed in care of the final arrangements.
