Wanda Naomi Hatfield Patterson, age 85, of Mannington, WV passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Monongalia General Hospital. She was born February 16, 1933 in Wetzel County, WV, a daughter of the late Forrest and Elsie Murl Edgell Hatfield.
Wanda is survived by her son, James “Gym” Patterson and companion Bobbie Elliott and her daughters Mary and Vicky White of Mannington, and her daughter, Janet Parkhill and Gary of Harmony Grove in Taylor County, WV; 6 grandchildren, Melissa Craig and Jason of Middleburg, VA; Brian Lee of San Francisco, Gary Paul Parkhill of Taylor Co., Crystal Donile of Rockford, IL, Jaime Parkhill Wright and Raymond of Grafton, Stacey Patterson and Tony Llaneza of Fairmont; 6 great-grandchildren, Zackery Morgan, Kadan McDaniel and Jailen McDaniel, Jocelyn Appino, Evan Donile, and Austin Wright; 2 sisters, Linda and Jim Fluharty of Mannington and Nancy and Bob McLaughlin of Mannington; 2 sisters-in-law, JoAnn Hatfield of Mannington and Mary Louise Hatfield of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her husband James Walter “Pitter” Patterson who died on May 25, 2007; a daughter, Sheila Lee; 2 brothers, Jack Hatfield and Ross Hatfield.
Wanda was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Mannington for over 50 years. She was a 50 year Communion Stewart and very active in the church. She enjoyed reading her Bible, sewing, and helping her husband “Pitter” with Boy Scouts. She was also a member of the Mannington Fire Dept. Auxiliary. She also enjoyed singing, playing the piano and baking. The family would like to thank Shirley Carpenter and Durwin and Diana Booth for their help and care of Wanda each and every day.
Family and friends will be received at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Mannington, WV on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 from 2-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 11:00am with Reverend David Yanero and Reverend Jerry Bush officiating.
