Wayman Harold Wilcox, 90, of Mannington, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He was born April 5, 1932 on Mohans Run Road, Mannington, a son of the late Claude Harold Wilcox and Marzee Evelyn Watson Wilcox.
Wayman is survived by his wife of 68 years, Norma Gail Moore Wilcox, whom he married on September 5, 1954, son Jay Edward (Sharon) Wilcox of Mannington, two daughters Jean Ann (Gene) Ehart of Fritch, TX, Evelyn Ruby (John) Wright of Fritch, TX, grandchildren Sally (Roger) Martin of Mannington, Angela (Serafin) Camarillo of Fritch, TX, Jamie (Brad) Wilcox-Todd of Amarillo, TX, Amy Sponaugle of Mannington, JJ Wilcox of Mannington, Karen Latimer of Amarillo, TX, Faith (Oliver) Taylor of Amarillo, TX, William Lawson of TX, great-grandchildren, Meagan Wetzel of Mannington, Molly (Paul) Martin of Monongah, Tyrei Foster of TX, Noah (Savannah) Martin of Mannington, Ransom Bennett of TX, Torrence Foster of TX, Samantha Camarillo of Fritch, TX, Austin Melendrez of Amarillo, TX, Peanut Camarillo of Fritch, TX, Alex Camarillo of Fritch, TX, Trey Foster of TX, Carter Dyke of TX, and great-great-grandchildren Avery Wetzel of Mannington, Sophia and Emilia Jones of Monongah, a sister-in-law Shirley Wilcox of Reynoldsburg, OH.
In addition to his parents, Wayman was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Wilcox and Arthur Wilcox.
Wayman served his country in the US Army from 1952-1954. He was formerly employed at Penn Line as a tree trimmer, cutting right of ways and painting towers in PA, Fairmont Supply as a welder, Manchin’s delivering and repairing appliances, WV Dept. of Highways, and FMC in fabrication. He was a member of the West Augusta Historical Society and the Bee Gum Baptist Church. He loved camping at Big Bear Lake, watching the birds outside his window and was an avid news watcher. He enjoyed watching his great and great-great grandchildren growing up. The family will receive friends at the Masters Funeral Home in Mannington on Saturday, November 5, 2022 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm with funeral services beginning at 1:00 with Evangelist Steve Stevens officiating. Burial will follow at the New Fluharty Cemetery on Plum Run. Masters Funeral Home has been placed in care of final arrangements.
