William “Bill” Yoho

William “Bill” Joseph Yoho, 67, of Mannington, WV died Saturday, August 31, 2024 at The Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH. He was born April 24, 1957 in Fairmont, a son of the late Howard P. and Charlotte Ann Yoho.

Bill was a 1975 graduate of Mannington High School and a graduate of Fairmont State College. He was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Mannington and he regularly attended the Bee Gum United Methodist Church in Mannington with his family. Bill was a member of the National Association of Realtors and a past member of the West Virginia Century 21 Brokers’ Council, having served as Vice President and Treasurer.

Bill started his real estate career in 1980. From 1986 to 2006 he was Vice President and Associate Broker of Springston Real Estate, West Virginia’s oldest, continuously operating real estate brokerage firm. From 2006 to 2020, he served as President and Designated Broker of Springston Real Estate. From 2020 until his passing, he was an Associate Real Estate Broker with Springston Real Estate. Bill was also the sole owner of a real estate appraisal and consulting business since 1981. Bill always said, “if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life”.

At the time of his passing, Bill served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of First Exchange Bank having served on the board since 1989. He was Chairman of the Audit Committee, Chairman of the Compensation Committee, and Chairman of the Wealth Management Committee. He was a member of the Executive Committee and the Site/Building Committee. He was also the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Heritage Bancshares, a position he held since its formation in 1994. Bill was co-founder of Bucman, LLC, a real estate investment company. A jack of all trades, he was also a licensed life insurance agent.

Bill enjoyed watching football and basketball, reading, old movies, classic rock and roll, and any chance he could get to spend time with his family. Whether it was a hockey game, an RV trip, or a Sunday dinner, he always prioritized family time. He enjoyed attending Mountaineer football and basketball games with his son, Richie, and his brother, Paul. He loved his annual trips to Florida so much that even forest fires and hurricanes couldn’t chase him away. If you needed advice on anything, Bill was the one you could ask. The knowledge he had about life was immense and he never hesitated to help someone or share his experiences. He was always the first to share a story or a joke.

He is survived by his wife, Eva Yoho, of 37 years who he proudly proclaimed as “the love of his life”; a daughter and son-in-law, Catie and Todd Latocha of Fairmont; a son, Richie Yoho and his fiancé, Chelsea Golden of Columbus, OH; one granddaughter, Eleanor Latocha of Fairmont; a brother and sister-in-law, H. Paul and Michelle Yoho of Mannington; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dalene and Skip Horner of Mannington; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Kenneth Yoho of Mannington; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edward and Virginia Sine of Mannington; and his beloved dog, Bandit.

Bill Yoho is my oldest friend dating back to the early 60’s when we were neighbors. We played together daily. He was a staple of my childhood. We attended school together, played HS basketball together and had many great memories. He will certainly be missed. God bless his family in this difficult time.

Bill and I were directors at First Exchange Bank for over 35 years! With Bill's leadership we've grown from a $40 million dollar bank to over $390 million. From a location in Mannington to seven locations. I spent many, many hours with him and he was always the one to turn to for great advice, great guidance and he always through in a laugh or two. Marion county, Mannington and the bank will truly miss him.

Bill and I had a 4-Hour lunch one time. By the time I went back to my truck where my phone had been charging, my lady was ready to put out an APB for me because I wasn't answering my phone. I respected Bill for his intellect and knowledge. My condolences to the family for this loss.
